When people think of the Latin music CD, artists like Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Emilio Estevez and Ricky Martin usually come to mind. I don’t think any of these artists produce what I personally consider real Latin music. If you want a Latin music CD that will force you to shake your butt to the rhythm whether you want to or not, you should make sure it’s by the Gypsy Kings. The Gypsy Kings actually come from southern France, but their heritage is Spanish. The parents of the band members fled Spain during the Spanish Civil War.The Gypsy Kings made Rumba Catalana, a pop-orientated version of flamenco, popular. You can dance the Rumba or the Salsa to many of the songs on a Gypsy Kings Latin music CD. You could also improvise and create your own moves. I’ve been to Spain several times. When I was a child, my family and I would go on vacation there each year. My parents would play the Gypsy Kings in the hotel room. Consequently, every time I listen to a Gypsy Kings Latin music CD, I immediately remember Spain.
